It's unfortunate that the previous reviewer didn't like the Woolgrowers, or Basque food. Even though the "set up" is more food than most people can eat, I can never eat there without ordering the pork chops. The food has always been excellent, and though the service is slow sometimes (due to the restaurant always being crowded) I don't ever hesitate to go back. I recommend that if you go, you make reservations, and expect to wait at least an hour to be seated after your arrival.

I think Tut is rather lacking in his food Tastes. Not Only is Basque Food amazing, but there is a large quantity of food to boot.

Can't Believe There Aren't Any Reviews Here: Growing up in Bakersfield, CA Wool Growers is a landmark. Basque food is Awesome. Its sad that not many people that live outside of Kern Co. know what it is. Basque food is served family style and the portions are large. Its a four course meal. Salad, Soup, Entree, Dessert. Salad is served with a vinager oil, side include pickeled tongue, and some pickeled vegtable, like carrots or beets, sometimes tomatoes with oil and vinager. Soup is a meal in its self, the cabbage soup is served with beans and salsa, you add all three together, that and fresh sourdough bread from a local bakery and your in heaven. But then come the spagetti, french fries, and meat. I highly recommend Pork Chops with extra garlic. When you think you can't eat another thing, they offer you sherbert and sometimes Spimoni, an ice cream that is my fav. If your every in Kern Co. CA go to Bakersfield and have the meal of a life time. I sure miss it!!!

I can't believe you don't know the location of the Woolgrowers Restaurant. I've been going there since 1980 when I first started visiting Bakersfield, and now that I live here it is the most requested location for "dinner out" by our visiting family and friends. Other restaurants come and go, but the Woolgrowers stays as busy and crowded as ever. When you do go, make sure you make reservations, or expect a two hour wait for a table.
