With out a doubt one of the finest restaurants on the central coast. Ian is a gracious host serving fine local wines with incredible food. A special place for dinner if you are visiting the Paso Robles wine Country. Ian is a local supporter of Templeton area schools and Donates his time and talents to many local fund raising events.
ok: They have okay food not so special
Big City restaurant in Small Town: First off, let me say - the food and service are excellent. A wonderful place and as stated in another review - like a restaurant in San Francisco. This is where I take another road. Hate to say it, but this restaurant does not reflect the town of Templeton at all. Templeton is a historic ranching (and former railroad) town and has two very diverse cultures - the ranchers and cowboys, and the "winers". Wine people, with big city tastes and lots of money are changing the face of this little town - and not necessarily for the better. McPhee's reminds me of a restaurant in SF, but I didn't come to Templeton to experience SF or LA or Mexico. If you want to eat local food with local atmosphere, you are better off at AJ Spurs. If you expect Templeton to be just another extension of Napa or Santa Barbara, by all means eat at McPhee's. You will get the winer experience - high prices with a bit of upper crust attitude, and no reflection of this historic railroad town at all.
