| About: | Mattei's tavern is a glimpse into the past and a reminder of the pioneering spirit and hospitality of the old west. Velvet wallpaper, old family photographs and crackling fires in the various fireplaces are complemented and contrasted by the innovative wine country cuisine of brothers Matt and Jeff Nichols. Restored to stagecoach day glory and surrounded by plush gardens and lawns, Mattei's continues to be a much beloved local landmark that was, and is, know as a place for family and friends to gather and enjoy a great meal. The brilliant white wooden building sits majestically on sprawling lawns and gardens, on the edge of the small town of Los Olivos. Inside the tavern can only be described as welcoming, lit fireplaces, cozy dining rooms and enticing aromas from the open kitchen. Brothers Restaurant is the proud caretaker of Mattei's Tavern. We want the restaurant to continue to reflect the welcoming spirit of the stagecoach days, when it all started from its construction in 1886. |

I had dinner there three time so far and it is fine restaurant. Great service and great food. I love the seating area that is called the Garden Room. The apple pork chop and lamb shank were delish as well as the sole. Can't say enough good things about it & we will be going there again.
The food was good but not worth the price tag. The setting is very casual so you'll see people wearing flip flops to nice slacks. It's definitely kid-friendly as the table next to us had a daughter who ran around the table the entire time.
From what we were told, it's the nicest restaurant in the area.
We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and were not disappointed. This was one of the finest meals we've ever eaten. The food was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. We had eaten at the Hitching Post the night before, and had been slightly disappointed, given the hype and the cost of the meal. We found Brothers Restaurant to be far superior. We highly recommend Brothers Restaurant.
