i think this place sucks the food isnt event that great i just dont see how all these people can go there and eat like every day. the whole thing with the refills is stupid, they should be free, and the wait is horribble, some of the watiress and nice and some just dont give a f*** but oh well and the place is so dark.over all if you really want to go through all that go right ahead.. oh and the lunch prices arent that bad, but dinner it's ridiculous!!
Today, 10 of us went to eat out at at Japanese Kitchen in Clovis, CA. I chose JK because I always see lot of people waiting for tablet at this restaurant around 7pm. I think it should be a good place however, the out come was not that pleasant for our group. Waitress that help us was rude and very unpleasant and not too friendly. Food is not as good as other japanese restaurant I have been to. The chef at my table was a nice guy but he did not perform the onion volcano show. As soon as the main course over, we ask for the desert menu... It took forever and it turned out our time was over, said by a hostess. we were forced out of the place so they can bring in new guests. Very bad servce. Finally, they asked us to go to the bar for desert! Think about this guys! Something wrong with the picture. I hope the owner of this place or managerment should take a look at this matter. The owner should look into how the waitresses talk to the customers. I would score this place at following:
Food 3 stars
Ambien 3 stars
Chef 3 stars (he tries to cheers us but...it's not happening this time)
Services 0 stars (no hot source, no desert menu)
I would like to see the service changed when I come back next time. There is only one tepanyaki in Fresno, unfortunately!
Dropped in this place for lunch yesturday, and I now remember why I stopped going here.... I was seated immedieatly (tho I was by myself and they just started seating for lunch) and the waitress was very friendly... thats about where the good part stops...
The sushi was very soggy.. There wasnt even an attempt at a "show" (tho I dont know if this was because I waw there for lunch or if they just dont do it anymore - I know the lunch doesnt include salad and the 2 shrimp aptizer and thats the only major differience I noticed from the dinners and at about $10 cheaper). The chef shorted 2 people at the table a piece of shrimp that they ordered with their meal (I got the normal 5 and the other 2 only got 4 each, they ordered the chicken & shrimp and I got a seafood special w/ side of shrimp).... The food was overcooked (tho some might like this if you like you meat cooked well done)......
The place at Herndon and Fowler (Tokyo Steak House?) is much better and CLEANER!!! I eat Tapenyaki about once a week. Used to come here, then went to try out the other place... MUCH BETTER FOOD.. I regret coming back here for lunch and wont do it again!!!!!!!
There are lots of talk about good and bad chefs.. check out the color of your chefs hat.. now think karate and the belts........ The one good chef I know of here is a guy named "B"... If you want a good meal ask for him...

I should read those review before decided to dine at Japanese Kitchen. I would love to try Tokyo Steak House. Cheers!
There are ALOT of teppan yaki places in the Fresno area... Japanese Kitchen - Shaw and Willow and Tokyo Steak House - Herndon and Fowler, Edo Ya - Shaw and Marks, Zipangu - Shaw and West, where I usually go, Sakanaya - Friant and Ft Washington, Yoshino - on Blackstone, not River Park (that one is sushi no teppan yaki) the first one in Fresno I think, and there is one more new place at First and Nees w/ 15 tables... They are all mostly the same.. Try to rush you thru your service.. They mostly have some kinda trait that seperates them... JK - no meat in Fried Rice, no Refils - tho they advertise ALOT better than the other places, probably why they are still in business... Tokyo Steak House - bacon in fried rice, use alot of soy sauce, refils.... Edo Ya - bacon (? i think) in fried rice, no refils (think owner by same person as JK, not sure tho), best looking of all of the places, but I go for the food and not the decor Zipangu - bacon in fried rice (will make spicy rice on request), refils, probably most rundown looking of all the places, have alagator and ostrige on dinner menu.. This is where I usually go and I live walking distance to JK.. been there almost every weekday for lunch (no lunch on weekends :( ) for the last couple months... Sakanaya - have not been, but heard great food, but rushed service Yoshino - have not been, kinda sad as I think it was the first teppan yaki place in Fresno The new place on First and Nees - fried onion in fried rice, no refils, most expensive of all the places ive been and smallest portions
