ate dinner here with my wife. both steaks were overcooked and the vegatables were undercooked and cold. when the manager asked us how the food was, we told him. his response was 'next time, send them back' and he walked away. we would have but it took fifteen minutes to get our food and we didn't want to wait another fifteen minutes. they didn't even discount the meals for the poor cooking. he didn't care about the quality of the food or the service.
Gracian's may look a little questionable from the outside but inside you will find friendly service and great food. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and they are all delicious. Their chili rellenos are the best and their grilled ahi will melt in your mouth. If you are into planes or trains you get a bonus watching the trains just across the street or the airplanes landing at the Tehachapi airport just past the tracks.
More than food: Gracian's has very good food -- the best chile reanoes I've had. This restaurant is about more than the food; it's about the people. Mario and his staff care about his customers -- everyone is an individual, more than a plate of food.
My dad had his breakfast and dinner at Gracian's nearly everyday. He had his own table. Some days he would go just for an afternoon cup of coffee and conversation. They knew his favorites and exactly how he liked his food prepared. When Dad got too ill to go over for meals, meals were brought to him.
A chain restaurant and fast food drive-throughs can't provide this personal service. It's the people that make the Gracian Grill a treasure in our town.
