| About: | Since 1977 the Mariscotti family has owned and operated The Vineyard Restaurant. Modeled after a winery, the large wooden barrels, high ceilings and friendly wait staff create a relaxed atmosphere. The Vineyard serves American food influenced by our Italian heritage and the bountiful foods of Central California. We feature menu items such as Lamb Shank braised in red wine, locally grown Mary's Chicken fried Italian style and our popular Filet Mignon with zinfandel butter and portabella mushroom. The restaurant has a full bar featuring the wines of Madera County. I stopped at a new hotel on highway 99 and was told nu the clerk that the only decent dinner place nearby was The Vineyard. Boy was he right! Seldom do I stumble upon such good food via word of mouth, and I travel 3 weeks a month. First of all, the building is entirely unique and quite attractive. I was greeted the moment I walked in by a tall elegant man who turned out to be the Manager. He couldn't have been nicer and immediately seated me at a nice table. Then he took his time telling me what that night's specials were. He went to great lengths to answer my questions and made me feel right at home. I started with an outstanding local chardonay and fresh local figs wrapped in prosciuto in a sweet sauce. Utterly delicious and unlike anything I have ever had before. Then I had the Chinese Chicken Salad, which I have had in many spots around the country, and it too was outstanding. There was a fun crowd in the bar that I was tempted to join, but I had an early flight out of Fresno. I highly recommend this establishment.
My husband and I had dinner at the Vineyard on the 11th day of our road trip from Seattle, via Santa Fe and Las Vegas. We happened upon The Vineyard because of a flyer at the hotel. What a treat! The atmosphere was relaxed but sophisticated, the service excellent and the food was the best that I had had during the entire trip. The tuna was lightly seared, the vegetables delictable and the salad was delicious. Five stars all around!
The food is excellent, but phone service is not.: The food is excellent and presented well. There was a very, very helpful gentleman at the restuarant who immediately came to my attention, upon entering the restuarant.
When I called to place a to go order over the phone, the lady I spoke to on 2 occasions was very abrupt and esentially rude for no reason, and was not patient when I was trying to place the order. When I went to get the food, she looked me up and down with a very disapproving look.
