Eating at Tarpy's is basically shredding your hard earned dollars to bits and pieces.Needing somewhere convenient to eat along the hwy 68 corridor we were hoping Tarpys would fit the bill. Well the bill itself was the only memory of the evening. 3 out of the 6 in our party ordered cocktails, specifying a certain Vodka, had they had known that would cost them $15 and $18 per drink for a small rocks glass!! The Porterhouse steak of the evening at $40 was a paperthin overcooked tough piece of meat served over greasy potatoes with cruncy vegetables. Needless to say a VERY disappointing evening.
The best lamb that I have ever had. My husband and I went there for a nice, romantic evening. We dressed up and were a little over dressed for the atmosphere, but we didn't feel out of place. The food was on the expensive side, however worth every penny.
I like Tarpy's. It's a great environment--an old rancho estate with a great menu which pays tribute to the history of the place. I love the upscale versions of down-home favorites. You have to order the sweet potatos. I get them for dessert sometimes!
If you ever need to book a private room for an event, look into Tarpy's. I've used them several times and never been disappointed.
