small parking lot. Cash only. Food was traditional Japanese and very good. Service was a bit slow. Prices were great. Try it out.
Tiny parking lot, often crowded, no sushi, and cash only. That said, it's still a great place that serves authentic homestyle Japanese food. Good combinations, very good daily specials, generally fast, friendly service... there's a reason it's crowded and oft-frequented.
If you can't park in the parking lot, try going around the block and park behind the Ducky car wash, it's not that long of a walk, and you don't have to spend the extra time praying that there happens to be a spot open.
Good hot entrees, not for sushi: Gombei is a nice little family style japanese resturant with an open kitchen at the back. My favorite dishes are the eel over rice (very generous amount of eel) and their udon noodles(great flavorful soup). They are strong in their hot entrees such as chicken/beef teriyaki, fried shrimp, which is served with miso soup and a small broccoli lettuce salad with sweet peanut sauce. HOWEVER, if you are looking for sushi, Gombei is NOT the place to go. The sushi selection is limited, the rice falls apart, they are just not a sushi place. Be sure to leave 15% tips or the owner might come chasing for you (it happened to my friend, but otherwise friendly staff).
