| About: | Featured in Gourmet Magazine, this three-star European Bistro blends casual elegance with rustic charm, reminiscent of a Tuscan villa with cozy stone fireplaces and sun-lit terraces. Described as "a Mediterranean dream..." and "one of the best in the Bay Area" in 2004-2007 by food editor Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Bistro features lusty, flavorful dishes inspired by the coastal villages of France, Spain and Italy. City Search editors called it one of the "Top 10 Places Worth The Drive in the United States", and AOL's Digital City named it the Best Brunch in the Entire Bay Area in 2005. The full service Bar/Cafe features small plates, live jazz on Fri/Sat nights, and a 3,500-bottle Wine Spectator award-winning international wine list. |

Enjoyable. Classic California: Always had a good meal; very reasonable for the price. Jazz bar is enjoyable. Great place to take out-of-town guests as it meets my expectations for a California restaurant.
big front no inside: just had my 28th wedding anni there and really wished vwe had not . it certainly was not romantic and found it very pretentious. food was so so service was ok best of the evening was the stawberry tart and a wonderful 20yr tawney port.
Slooooow Service: My boyfriend and I spent the weekend in Half Moon Bay and went to Centrella for dinner as we both had heard great things! The jazz music and the ambiance is great (I would even say the restaurant is a step above casual). The food was awesome -- the seafood and pork chop were delicious. But, we ordered too much food (and the waiter didn't bother to tell us, even when that thought crossed his mind - he told us that later). We thought the seafood platter was an appetizer, but it turned out it was a full-on entree size. The waiter didn't know much about the wine list and was so busy and unattentive that we poured our own wine to refill our glasses. The lag between dishes was embarrassing and we saw a couple sit down after us and get the check before us (and they had dessert too!).
