Went here seeking Filipino fusion and was disappointed with the menu. More Spanish and French. Except for the lumpia and the investors, there were no other Filipino influences. Service was slow and the server's knowledge of the menu was dismal. Presentation was excellent and the food was good, just don't expect anything Filipino-influenced. I ordered Italian Meringue with Pineapple for dessert and it tasted like propane. Complained to the server and they took it out of my bill, but I was waiting for them to offer me another dessert but no such offer came. Would not go here again.
Very good restaurant! Loved the ambiance and the decor. Dark bamboo poles on the wall, dark red leather seating, and chocolate tables makes for a very clean, modern, environment, with a touch of ethnicity. Food was excellent, presented very nice, and very tasty. Although be prepared to spend quite a bit to fill yourself for a meal. For 3 people, we shared 4 small plates, enjoyed 3 main entrees, shared 2 desserts, and two of us had a glass of wine during dinner, and one of us had a cup of coffee after. Spent about $60/person for all that. Definitely not a place I would find in Burlingame, but was a welcome find. Would definitely come back again.
A truly great experience!: Loved my visit to the Grandview just this past weekend. Had thought that it was a Thai restaurant as listed in the search. But was pleasantly surprised that it was a Shanghai style chinese restaurant. I had remembered the article last weekend in the Chronicle which reviewed a Shanghai style restaurant in the City. So I asked for some help with the ordering. I met Jack the owner's son that is running the restaurant. He really knows his food and help with our table's order. All he asked was any dietary restrictions, in which there were none. He proceeded to ordered the Steamed Shanghai style pork dumplings, boy were they good! There was other dish that I thought was great which was the spicy braised fillet of cod. Never seen such a dish before. We all had a great time there. I'm not going to say anymore.....You should try it out and let me know if you enjoy this new find as much as I did.
