Not the best tapas, but a nice atmosphere (love sitting outside0 and good service.
cascal is a cute place to grab dessert and relax in downtown mountain view. i'm not sure if they do this every friday night but last time i stopped by on a friday night, there was live music and salsa dancing all throughout the restaurant and on the patio. it was really fun and festive!
the tapas are okay - it's hard to rate them since i've only been here once with one other person so we only ordered 4 dishes.
With many visits to the bay area, this is my first visit to Cascal.
I highly recommend Cascal based on the quality of the food and the true professionalism of the staff. Alone on a business trip, I sat at the bar and received great recommendations from the bar staff on both food and wine.
As I told the manager that night, a restaurant of that size that is full and running at full speed, to see smiles on the faces of the kitchen staff, the bar staff, and everyone in general is truly a great sign that everything is firing on all cylinders.
A great selection of South American wines with no leaning toward California is quite unexpected given where this restaurant lives.
Prices, IMHO, are very reasonable for the quality on both food and wine (I live in Austin, tx.).
Summary: Top quality food, great staff, great service, great wine list.
P.S., the braised short ribs in Adobo are not to be missed.
