I'm a little surprised to see these positive reviews, though they are a bit old.
I think I had the worst Japanese meal I've ever had in the Bay Area at this place last night.
I ordered a special, so they may have been moving old product, but the chicken in my teriyaki was boiled, not grilled. The meat was tough and looked unappetizing.
The special came with two croquettes which were cooked well - they were the highlight.
The california roll that came with the meal had clearly been sitting around for a while. The rice was starting to get hard. When picked up with chop sticks, the entire roll fell apart. You ever try take home sushi the next day after it's been in the fridge? You know how the rice gets? That's what this was like. The cucumber inside the roll wasn't bright & crisp. It was soft, chewy, and had that slightly funky smell that old cucumber sometimes gets. As you can tell, the california roll really turned me off.
The meal also came with miso soup, which was decent, and a salad that I didn't try after my experience with the roll.
The staff was very nice.
I'm sorry to say I won't be eating here again. Rather spend my dollars some place that puts a bit of effort into their food.
Our favorite sushi place! Love the food & the staff. :o)
ok, but not great: I am a picky sushi eater but certainly know good sushi when I eat it. This place is not up to par. I won't go back most likely. We had tuna, yellow tail, salmon, eel roll, and tempura roll. The tuna was good, but the other items were just ok. The sake and beer was good though. Also, there was no wait what so ever. We went on a Saturday night and there was plenty of room.
