Company Information: One of the city's most venerable skate shops and a Polk Street institution Skates.com, this place has been renting and selling to Golden Gate Park skaters since 1975. Flat, scenic park skating is just 1/2 block away. Free skating lessons are available in the Park from the staff Sunday mornings at 9am. That same staff can help you find just the right skates for you whether you're looking to breeze leisurely through the park or work up some serious speed on in-line skate.

I'm writing this review because I was surprised to see this restaurant only has four stars. We have been going to Skates for years, and I would definitely give it five stars. The service is excellent. The food is unique and delicious, the staff is friendly and helpful, and you cannot beat the ambience. Skates is built OVER the SF bay. Patrons have a full view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Richmond bridge along with the Berkely Pier and the entire city of San Francisco. If you can, go there just before sunset, and watch the sun go down as you look out the enormous picture windows which span the restaurant in three directions. Even after dark, the light dances off the waters. You will not feel rushed, either. They have a bar area, if you have to wait, and their appetizers are always original and delightfully tasty. Desserts are also tops with us! Enjoy one with a final cup of very delicious coffee.

I think you mistook what you were reviewing....skates is a skate shop. not a resteraunt.
