The best mojito's: The Orbit Room falls on an oddly shaped corner that sort of juts out into Market street as it makes the bend from downtown towards Safeway and the Castro. This art deco spot is a great place to meet for drinks if you're looking for some place reasonably central, yet outside of the downtown zoo. I'm a big fan of their mojito and think they make among the best, but they do great up drinks as well. Not really a place to spend more than a drink or two, but the perfect place for a cocktail on your way or after dinner, the theater, etc.

Best Drinks In Town: On Tuesday night and Friday night your drinks are prepared by the most talented bartender in town. In general though the place is always great. Big windows on Market street and a cool art deco interior give the place a distinctive character. It is nice for happy hour as it has a lot of light and it is on the quiet side and you can talk with your friends.

Great bar: Sit by the big windows and watch Market Street happen outside. Inside, the style is art deco. The tables are illogically designed in that you can't put your legs under them, but that's my only complaint. At night the drinks are great and during the day it's a mellow cafe. Alberta, the bartender is a local legend with her custom-made drinks that change each time she works. Be sure and try her Sazerac.
