Company Information: The decor of this trendy spot is a cross between upscale California and proletariat chic. There is lots of metal in the tables, chairs and paneling. The floor is unadorned and unapologetic cement, a fact that cannot be easy on the wait staff's feet as they bustle about. Despite that, they are a personable bunch that hardly seems likely to foment a revolution. The cuisine is German, featuring potato pancakes, sausages, and Wienerschnitzel, perfect with the great selection of German beers available. Reservations accepted only for parties of four or more.
Hours of Operation: Dinner nightly

This is really minimalist dining at its worst. I had some cracker with spread thing as an appetizer and started having flashbacks to eating cabbage soup in Eastern Europe during the nineties and the vestiges of communism.
Not sure why someone would want to subject themselves to spartan eats that are not necessarily cheap
Unhospitable: I used to eat here quite often, being a German expat, to get a filling of soul food once in a while. It was a place with great authentic German food and friendly service.
Last week when I came there after moving back to the city after five years, nobody of the staff took notice of my wife and me. After a couple of minutes, a young waitress threw us a "hi!" in passing, never making eye contact. We waited for another five minutes for anyone to greet us and seat us, or, if tables were unavailable, tell us how long the wait would be. Several staff passed by us several times. Finally we left. An experience that was so awful it was funny again. Can't speak to the food, we never got there.
Authentic German Food & Authentic Ossi Atmosphere: This place has been churning out the German specialties (including those developed and refined in the "old" East Germany) for a long time now, and the quality of food the friendliness of the service, and authenticity of the atmosphere remain as solid as the concrete in the Berlin Wall. Dining under the gaze of Vladimir Lenin and Karl Marx is fun...in a Stasi-kind of way...as are the East German product displays (check out the toiletries in the bathroom or the East German albums in the back room). A must-go if you like "meat and potatoes" -- not to mention outstanding German beer!
