in a city with tons of excellent restaurants, there is absolutely no reason to pay $120+ for a casual two-course dinner for 2. i don't even remember what exactly i ate or how it tasted, and that tells you how impressed i was. i would rate it 3 stars if they cut their price in half for the same food and after they fire their snubbish hostesses.

Zuni cafe is a favorite of mine. The pros are: great great food with lots of options, modern decor with a casual fun environment and the service is good and knowledgable. Also the wine/drink list is terrific. It's ideal for going late at night and ordering some appetizers.
Cons: You must make reservations to eat at a decent hour, it's pricey and parking is really difficult. Overall, I will give Zuni 5 stars because the food quality is so good the pros strongly outweigh the cons as an ideal little spot to eat in San Francisco.
