| About: | Standing on the site of and named after San Francisco's first amusement park, this outstanding eatery offers modern pleasure seekers an equally delightful form of amusement of the culinary kind. The decor is far more sedate than the park was, with lace curtains and stark walls. Chefs and part owners, Dana Tommasina, formerly of Greens, and Margie Conrad who previously worked at Postrio, create a wonderfully eclectic cuisine. The menu, which changes seasonally, might include a Vegetable-Saffron Risotto and a Meyer Lemon Pot de Creme. The off-the-beaten-path location makes for an equally eclectic clientele with artists at tables next to Financial District types as the well trained wait staff hover attentively. The wine list is small, but offers selections from around the world. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 6 pm |

if you are looking for a truly delicious meal in an intimate calming setting this is the place to head. added bonus is that it is in a not great location, so parking is super easy (there is always parking on the other side of the underpass, and although there are some unsavory characters sometimes nothing has ever happened to our car)
Always Great Food: Trends come and go but for 12 years we have been visiting this hidden gem, through teardowns of the Central Freeway, then reconstruction somehow this place has held on. More then held on, always great food, a unique value driven winelist, and real people serving great food. No fru fru calf's cheeks, but wonderful creative dishes with the freshest in season offerings and a down home yet romantic style. It has always been a favorite with friends we have turned onto this place, and it never has let us down. Table clothes, candlelight, great music from Billie Holiday to Gillian Welch all make for a great place to share no hyped, not expensive romantic evening. So get in there if you can, you will become a regular.
A Hidden Gem: I love this place. The food is amazing and the atmosphere, well, urban-French farmhouse chic might best describe the comfortable collection of tables, chairs and art. But come for the food. Fresh, amazing flavors dazzle, like the grilled fig salad, and the zesty bean salad. The entrees don't disappoint, either. And definitely leave room for dessert. The fig tart, well, let's just say it doesn't get much better. In a city of great food, this one can inspire even the most jaded palate.
