Mr. Runfola helped my family get through a terrible nightmare of a situation. I am the mother of a college student who got into serious trouble with the law. He was perhaps technically guilty of assault, but innocent of the other charges, and didnât deserve the charges and lengthy possible sentence the prosecutors tried to put on him. John helped my son avoid going to prison entirely.
We are incredibly lucky to have found such a meticulous lawyer. He made our lives better, and I hope writing reviews for him on the internet can hopefully help some other folks out if unfortunately you are in the position my family was once in. Mr. Runfola really did the best job any attorney could do given the circumstances.
Itâs incredibly sad to see some of the youtube news clips of some of the cases John defended on his website. Thereâs a young kid on there who was a groupie for Jerry Garcia, probably the most mellow, non-violent musical group there is. It seems like an undercover agent basically pulled an entrapment scheme on the kid, coercing him to find him a drug dealer for a large amount of money. If you watch the video, itâs just overwhelming that this poor guy got a ten year sentence for his first offense. You have to see it. Itâs just this harmless fan of music our government basically set up. Somehow John got his sentence reduced to five and was able to free the man, but imagine if this was your child. It is all incredibly sad. Good for the young man for appearing to keep up spirits throughout his time in federal prison.
I am a young man who was facing multiple years in prison for something that I did while having a mental breakdown. No one was hurt. I had no criminal record before, not even a parking ticket.
John got me released from jail with time served. Now I consider him a mentor.
He is passionate about what he does, during my trial he went without sleep at times working with his associates on my case. Brilliantly, he brought in a jury consultant (who created jury questionairres) to pick a fair jury. After the trial, members of the jury came to the sentencing and even wrote to me stating their sympathy for me and my family and hope for a better future for all of us.
When I was released from jail after a period of months, John really helped me get readjusted to society. He invited me to work for him part time helping him out with some projects at his office. I still help John out from time to time at his office with various projects he has in mind. I was there recently and a former client John got released from jail many years ago after facing life in prison for an act of self defense called in just to chat with him.
The team John Runfola has put together to support him is stellar. They are more like a family to me. Stephany, his paralegal, was extremely knowledgable when I would make phone calls from jail asking what was going on.
His associates are also incredible.
After my trial, one law student working for the prosecution switched sides, moved by my story and John's passionate, prepared, and personal defense. Now she works for John, and is a defense attorney.
I added personal in there because John came to know everything about me, things I even forgot. He used many of these facts during the trial. He learned these things talking to my family at just about any time of the day or weekend. He was confident and would always be there to reassure them that I would soon be free.
John has a unique sense of humor that helped me get through hard times, especially when he came to see me in jail. One time he looked at me and said, "You need a tan." Seeing him always brightened up my whole day.
He promised me he would "get me through this" and he did.
He is an amazing lawyer, I don't know of anything he could have done better in my case. I know of several brilliant techniques, strategies, and motions he used that probably no other lawyer would have thought of.
