| About: | If you want authentic Thai food which is reasonably priced, then head to Thai House Express. The service is quick and efficient but the servings are on the spicy side so be forewarned. The yellow Thai curry, duck salad, Pad Kee Mao noodles, and a plate of chicken or pork dish is truly recommended. The atmosphere at this place is low-key and casual and the dishes are reasonably priced. It's a great experience in itself to eat here, as it can be truly compared to Bangkok's street food. |

Definitely one of the better Thai places in the Bay Area-.
menu is adventurous, with many items not typically available in your standard "same same" American Thai restaurans--this is always a big plus in my book, as overplayed, overly-sweet pad thai, green curry, and satay quickly get tiresome and boring. There are items on offer here that I have only seen available in the tropical kingdom, so gratifying to know that I can drive across the bridge for authentic kao mun gai. Tuck into some kao soi, bah mee moo daeng, or kao kha moo, all rare, authentic menu treats and all very tasty, great appetizers as well--aroi mahk!!
I've only been here a couple of times, but that is enough to know that these folks are not just catering for easy to please farang clientele, this is upcountry Thai cooking at its best and is certainly worthy of the praise. Highly recommended. Kor fahk kham chom hai por krua duay!
UPDATE-
Head chef and sous chef have left Thai House Express and brought their stellar menu over to Chai Thai Noodles, on E 14th and 6th Ave, in the San Antonio neighborhood of Oakland. Bravo!
Thaihouse express is simply good. my favorite for Thai in the Bay Area, the store @ 901 Larkin. if you arrive and are informed it may be a few minutes before a table is ready. wait your taste buds and tummy will surely be pleased. and to mention your wallet. simply good food, i love it. thanks. I'm no expert on Asian food, however my wife is from Laos.
many of the dishes she prepares @ home are identical to those found on the menu @ Thaihouse Express.
thanks,
mr. J.
awesome food~: i've tried many dishes and so far everything is delicious! however, it could be a long wait during dinner time...
