Company Information: This authentically French neighborhood oasis provides respite to SoMa professionals in need of breakfasts more pleasurable than a stale danish - and lunches more moving than a microwave burrito. The Butler & the Chef offers an elegant menu of salads, pates, quiches, crepes, croissants and more. The sandwiches (both hot and cold) stand head and shoulders above typical deli fare, all served on freshly baked bread and chock full of specialty meats, luscious veggies and exotic greens. For dessert, enjoy decadent standards like creme brulee, or opt for the simple but stunningly good maple-pecan cookie. Beer and wine are available, in addition to a full list of coffee specialties. See website for menu.
Hours of Operation: Breakfast & Lunch Mon.-Fri., Brunch Sat.-Sun.

Perfect Brunch, French Ambiance in SOMA: Wow! This is a wonderful little find in the middle of the cute little South Park strip. There are a few outdoor seats, but the interior feels like a true French bistro (or at least a great caricature of one!). It offers breakfast/lunch only, but it does so very well. I've had the french toast and waffles and they're marvelous. The buckwheat crepes are a little weird. There's always parking on the South Park circle and the wait on Sunday morning is nonexistent or much better than other good brunch places.
Personality... which is so rare these days: I've been here three times and each time I've enjoyed a fun, frank and frenetic conversation with the chef (no sign of the bulter yet).
I must encourage everyone who can to go here. The place is charming and is set beautifully in a quiet park (a rarity for SOMA). You can enjoy a light fluffy quiche or just sit and sip your coffee all day. Either way this place is a treat and highly recommended.
Before the As vs Giants Game: My friends found this place on the internet and suggested to go before the game. Having just visited France the previous summer, this place totally brought the whole feel and atmosphere back. It's located on a quited street, inside is like a small cafe where you can relax with friends or by yourself, and the service was extremely friendly. We had a party of about 8 and they brought out the food fresh from the oven so we could see it first hand. The food is excellent and the water is serviced just like in most of europe. The Butler & the Chef Bistro is an excellent place for a euro feel, especially if you have recently visited and want that sense and feeling.
