| About: | This is a low key, neighborhood bar that serves up local music 7 nights a week along with food and drink. Shows never cost more than $5, and are sometimes free. Mondays are open mic night, so if you want to become a star yourself, start here. The location near the happening SoMa District makes for an interesting mix of clientele ranging from dotcommers (and increasingly rare species) to artists to refugees from the Financial District. Have a brew and enjoy the people-watching. |

Cool place to hang out and listen to local bands: Went to see a friend's band perform live. Had a good time. People were very friendly and attractive. Can get a little loud.
fun, funky spot to catch local bands: the hotel utah has been around forever, and the venue is just this side of divey. but they get some great local acts here (my old roommate's band the real used to play here), mostly of the rock persuasion. it's a fun spot to check out something a little different for a very small cover (generally around $5-10, but sometimes free!)
