After a successful handling of a recent high ticket item installation at my house, I all of a sudden had extra money to blow and I must say that I am very happy camper having eaten at this restaurant. Â I was looking for a special place to take my grandma and after much research, I figured this restaurant has that old school classy feel she'll be right at home at. Â
I read a lot of reviews on the internet, then took the plunge and made the reservation. And boy, it was well worth the money!
ATMOSPHERE: Â At the front door, they have valets. Â A good thing too since there's only very sparse street parking. Â When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised with the dark wood decor. Â My grandma was smiling and the world is good.
FOOD: Â WOW, I say wow!!! Â Well, first we had their signature salad. Â Our waiter did all the pageantry that you won't find at most restaurants any longer. Â Had us hand-select our cold salad forks, he was spinning that salad bowl and pouring the dressing on top from 2 feet above. Â It was a show!
Then came the prime rib. Â Oh the King Henrys were several inches thick of prime meat goodness. Â The meat was perfectly aged, buttery, soft, simply spectacular. Â The very best prime rib I ever had, and my grandma totally agreed too, and she HAS eaten a lot of prime rib in her heyday, according to her :)
By the time we were done with our entree which also included: creamed spinach, 2 kinds of horseradish, Yorkshire pudding, and perfectly creamy, buttery, mashed potatoes, we had no room for dessert. Â A shame too since the menu sounded really good on that too.
All in all, I would definitely go again, just because of the prime rib! Â It was life changing experience! The rest was just a bonus. Â
My grandma and I have made a pact to go here at least once a year, at least until I stop renovating my house for a while, then hopefully more. Â
I'll say it again, IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!!!!!
Simply the best prime rib West (and probably East) of the Rockies. When I was there last year, the service was excellent (earning the server a fat tip.) Oh, and did I mention the excellent prime rib. Delicious. Places like this need to stay in business.
I believe my husband knows the maitre d' at the House of Prime Rib. I suspect they also have our telephone numbers, and perhaps a variety of information in their in-house database too because when my husband came in last week and ordered 3 prime rib dinners to go, a portion of the order was forgotten by the kitchen. They weren't able to bring it out on time, but at the time they discovered the mistake, my husband had already left the premises. This I know, because I received a message on my cell phone alerting me of the problem. I suspect they have our contact information, because how did they have my cell phone otherwise? Perhaps I gave it a long time ago while making reservations, who knows.
Well, to make a long story short, my husband was already home by the time we found out about the mistake and so he called the restaurant. The person who answered the phone was very apologetic, and they sent someone to our house to bring the rest of the food so we wouldn't go without. I believe they also included some goodies in there to further apologize for the mistake too.
Now the drive from House of Prime Rib, to my house is at least 30-45 minutes long with traffic during that time of day. With such fantastic customer service as that, this is only one of the reasons why we're regulars. The food is absolutely fantastic too. We especially love their King Henry cut, and dressy-casual atmosphere. Not too informal, but not too casual either. Just right. We'll regularly patronize this restaurant for as long as they remain open.
