| About: | It is hard to imagine a place serving fresher fish than this unprepossessing spot near the Nikko Fish Market, where rumor has it, the most respected sushi chefs in The City buy their fish. In addition to delightfully rendered grilled and broiled fresh fish, you will find delicious tempura in fish, beef, chicken and veggies varieties here. The 'Donburi' are especially nice, topped with delicately spiced chicken, beef, pork or vegetables. Service is quick and efficient from a personable wait staff. |

albacore fans will love it!: Okay rolls. Great nigiri and sashimi. I love the albacore here. Unfortunately, the salmon is of the smoked variety. The other food is great too. Nice katsu, karaage, etc. They have a brilliant seared ahi salad. The owner is a lovely man and makes a point to thank you for going to his restaurant. If you get to know him well then sake shots are the norm. Moshi Moshi is a great, homey place that nigiri/sashimi fans will love.
Good food, not-so-good service: Moshi Moshi has decent sushi - not the best in the city, but fairly inexpensive and fresh. Lots of variety on the menu, so it's a good place to go with a crowd that includes non-sushi eaters. Tempura is light & crispy, the gyoza are delicious, and there are plenty of creative rolls to choose from. Hot sake comes with a burner to keep it warm - a nice touch.
The service, however, is hit and miss. I've had pleasant wait staff there before, but more recently I've had crusty, rude service that leaves me thinking there are other places in the city to get my sushi fix. If it's your neighborhood sushi joint, you can probably live with cranky waitresses, but I don't think I'll choose it as a destination again.
Great for the price: It's definitely not fancy, but they've got great roles, and it's a good standby when you want decent sushi, and don't want to spend a ton.
I try to go for the various rolls they write out on the board at the front.
