Best reason be in the Castro (if straight): I would go back just to have the lobster and pea dhosa with that amazing Oregon Gewurtzraminer. The small plates/appetizers were all wonderful. Entrees were good, but couldn't compete. Desserts were solid and I highly suggest the dessert wine pairings. Arrive a little early and have a cocktail in the small bar area. Unique wine and sake cocktails. Service was excellent. In-depth knowledge of all the dishes, top notch wine suggestions, and perfect pacing. Worth a trip to the Castro for even the straightest of San Franciscans.
good eating: TALLURA IS WORTH THE TIME TO GO
This place is wonderful...such a hidden gem.: upon walking in, i thought it was a little lounge or something. we sat downstairs at the bar, and the gorgeous chef was behind the bar going crazy on some gourmet goodies, which she kept feeding to us! YUMMY!!
the wine list is amazing and complements the food exquisitely...the bartender knew just what we needed.
as we were taken to our table, i was shocked to see there was more to the restaurant than i first saw. we were taken up these unasumming stairs to these quaint eating areas. we were going to brave it out on the patio, but since this is chilly s.f., we decided to head back to this cute room with only 4 tables...very intimate.
everything that came to the table, i devoured. simply delicious!!
i LOVED this little place that i'd never heard of. reminded me of a sweet place in new orleans that i PRAY will still be in business...but if not, i've always got Tallula!!
