How do you say "rip-off" in Japanese? Never was so much spent for so little. We left hungry and spent more money for sushi that we could have had just about anywhere in San Francisco.
This place always gets such high ratings (the highest I found on YELP for Japanese in SF) that I had to try it. I got the $60 chef special and althought the fish was very delicate and prepared well, the portion is just so small I cannot live with it. The place is nice, clean, and unique. It is worth visiting but if you need to eat a lot of fish at one sitting, this is not the place for you. I could drop $200 on myself to get full here. I get the term delicate from one of my friends who was with me...I generally don't want "delicate" food...:)
expensive but good: This is a tiny little place run by a husband and wife team. The sushi is the freshest Ive ever had. If you like trying new things I recommend the Omakase, which is a 6 course, chefs tasting menu. The night I went we had sashimi, sushi, noodles, a curd soup w/ fish and fried crab dumplings. If you go definitely sit at the sushi bar where youll get some special treatment from the owner. The one drawback to this place is price. The omakase with beer, sake and tip cost me $75.
