| About: | Very rarely in The City does one find a restaurant that has extremely low prices while maintaining the highest quality food. Chow Food Drink is an unusual restaurant that offers excellent food at low prices. No wonder the wait is always an hour long. The menu includes favorites such as the Roasted Half-Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Cranberries, or Linguini with Clams, Mussels, Prawns, and Fresh Fish. A full dinner with a drink can be had for very less price. |

nice diner, good menu, good value. love the flank steak, the spicey thai noodles, the seafood pasta, and most on the menu. one complaint is that they don't serve lunch on sunday till very very late, and i am not a brunch person. so i definitely won't go there for lunch in the weekends. the long wait list is a bit annoying, but then again, it shows how popular the restaurant is. i have to admit that the quality of the food has declined slightly the past 2-3 years, but it is still a good restaurant.
I've been going to Chow since it opened.
I was there that Saturday summer night when Larry shouted "OH MY GOD, PRINCES DIANA DIED!"
That having been said, the food and service then was incredible!!! price value unbeatable!
Alas, that was then and this is now.
I've watched the service and food quality drop (as well as portion size) while the price's keeps rising.
Now I understand all about inflation.. but COME ON!
On a resent trip, the service was so full of attitude, the portions and food quality so poor, I was extemly embarrased at having suggested that our group eat there.(some had been there before, some 1st timers). The only thing we all agreed upon, was to never return again!
I wont go into all the details, suffice it to say that when one of our group "tried" to discuss the (many) problems with the managment, it became apparent and of little wonder where the waitstaff gained all the attitude!
Jeff,we miss you!!!
Tony,it's time for an intervention!!!
It truly breaks my heart to witness the decline of a once OUTSTANDING local restaurant.
On a positve note, the busser was great! As was the dessert.(thus the only reason for the 2* rating).
I'll probably try back in a few months when the extemly bitter taste of the experience (not to mention the food) has gone and, "HOPE" that the call for an intervention has been heard.
Wish me luck!!!!
FOOD TO GO ORDERS ARE FAR TOO SMALL, DISAPPOINTINGLY SMALL. IF YOU DON'T MIND PAYING $13.00 FOR A SALAD THAT THEY CALL"LARGE" BUT IS ACTUALLY SMALL WITH FAR LESS "FIXINGS" THAN YOU GET WHEN YOU SIT DOWN TO EAT THERE, THEN YOU WON'T MIND CHOW'S FOOD TO GO. BUT IF YOU ARE HUNGRY, EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE, IF EXPECT A REASONABLE PORTION OF FOOD FOR YOU DOLLAR. WHAT THEY SAY IS A LARGE "MEAL SIZE" SALAD IS DEFINATELY NOT. TELEPHONE AND IN PERSON SERVICE WAS FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT.
