I would rate myself as a pretty big fan of Japanese food and unlike many of the reviews here, I was disappointed with Osaka. The atmosphere is quiet and clean while the waiters are attentive. However, it is the food that caused me to give this restaurant a three star average. The proportions were very small and the overall quality seemed to be lacking. The sushi was fine, but in no way what so ever was I blown away by the taste or the freshness of the fish. We ordered many rolls, including a cherry blossom, spicy tuna, and some unagi. In my opinion this restaurant is peddling an inferior product that does not match the price. I guess the owners feel that since the restaurant is in pacific heights, they can charge more but hold back on the quality. I definitely believe there are better sushi places to eat at it.
Living by Filmore we have frequented this Japanese restaurant for years now. Their food is always fresh and tasty. I recommend their Rainbow, Spider and B-52 rolls. Their bento dinners and Beef Sukiyaki dinners are quite divine. Very friendly service and affordable. Highly recommended!!!!!!!
good neighborhood place: Osaka is a good sushi place in the neighborhood. The prices are reasonable and the food tasty, not too exciting but a good mid-week quick sushi option. The ambiance is simple and unromantic but the service is good and fast.
