Spicy Treat: Henry's may not be truly authentic, but it is spicy, tasty and the portions are generous.
Great Dishes--Good Prices--Don't ask for "SPICY": I love this place. It has great fresh meals, which include Shimp Chow Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, and a host of other plates that are very very good. The delivery to office location is a plus for rainy days. Linda is very nice and attentive (lady at the door that collects the money).
Hunan doesn't get any better - anywhere!: I remember the first time I ate at Henry's. They had a very small place with a counter and probably six tables on Kearny. I stood in line on a cold summer day as the fog made downtown San Francisco feel like it was in a box. The wind was whipping and my nose was running. But, it was the aroma (and the fact that I wasn't the only moron standing in the cold) that kept me there. From that first experience back in 1986, I've never been disappointed. The best location of, I think four, is the one off of Second Street in the alley next to the credit union (just so you won't miss it). The service is a bit cold, but usually only because it's so busy. If they forget about you, don't hesitate to flag someone down, and even ask for Ed, a genuinally great guy who's been a part of this place for as long as I can remember. I've had nearly all the dishes, and all are worth trying. Henry's Special and the shrimp with tofu come to mind as a couple of the best. But Harvest Pork and a at least ten others won't leave you wonting. Their drink menu is nearly non-existent as are the desserts, but that's not why you go to Henry's. The main courses are as memorable as the City itself. This is a must-go!
