| About: | Bruno Viscovi came to America from the hillside town of Albona, overlooking the Istrian Peninsula on the Adriatic Sea, located just southeast of Trieste on the borders of Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. The memories of his palate are distinctively expressed with the only Istrian Menu on the West Coast. The unusual dishes and recipes of his region reflect the infusions from the Italians, Austrians, Hungarians, Slavs, Spaniards, French, Jews, Greeks, and Turks. In 2008 Bruno passed the torch to his nephew, Michael Bruno, and executive chef, Samuel Hernandez. The two have proudly stayed true to the Istrian delicacies of the region. Based on reviews in Yelp and Yahoo, I decided to celebrate my birthday at Albona. My friends and I had a wonderful time - great service and the feeling we were in a small town where people cared about their customers. The food was outstanding - I had the special of the day - lamb chops and they were perfectly cooked. The Chocolate Bonet dessert was the perfect ending to dinner. A great time was had by all and we will certainly return
Very friendly, small, local place with excellent food. Bruno and the staff are very attentive. We really enjoyed the chocolate riccota torte for desert!
I tried Albona this week with some family members. It is a very small and intimate restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the service was very good. Their portions were just the right size and the food was delicious! I would definitely go back and I highly recommend this restaurant.
