Food was average but the service was terrible. We had a party of 5 and 3 of us had issues with the service. I liked my Linguini Clams with angel hair pasta instead of Linguini because thicker pasta gives me digestion problems. The waitress got "high and mighty" and said they don't substitute pasta. I asked why and they said it's the chef's policy based on his belief that certain pastas go with certain dishes. In other words the customer's wishes don't matter as long as the chef's feelings aren't hurt. Another member of our group wanted a slice of orange with his water instead of lemon and again the waitress came back with "We can't do that. It's policy that water is always flavored with a slice of lemon."
The prices were high but not outrageously high but given the de-flationary environment we are in they probably would have to bring prices down soon to match other comparable restaurants.
The bathroom was a mess. It was small. The fixtures were vintage 1970. It was smelly. They definitely need to remodel the whole restaurant and improve the service if they want to continue to charge inflated prices.
Trattoria Contadina - delicious italian!: It's humble and homey, but darn the food is good! I've never had a dish that I didn't find to be delicious! Great pre-going out dinner spot in North Beach - just away from the craziness of the main drag.
It's like coming home: The food is incredible! The best Italian in North Beach...service is friendly and the wine list is reasonable! Oh but the food...divine!
