The Portuguese native headed to San Francisco with nothing but passion, and in 1987, Izzy's Steaks & Chops opened its doors in the heart of Marina neighborhood on the birthday of the man himself. Steak is the main draw here, although there are excellent seafood and chops made from market-fresh ingredients. Their bar prides itself on creative concoctions and an impressive list of spirits. This restaurant has much of a traditional boys club feel to it. With dim lighting, no-nonsense service and lacquered fish among lots of San Francisco memorabilia donning the walls, this is a quintessential example of an American steakhouse and promises an unrivaled experience in the Bay Area.
