Molinari Delicatessen Business Overview

Edit Info

Company Information: This place has been supplying the larders of the Italian-American community in North Beach for almost a century. The tiny storefront is a charming bit of local history and is jammed with things such as a dozen different kinds of olive oil, mozzarella made locally but tasting like the Old Country, and enough tins of sardines to feed a small army. The deli counter staff, who seem to have been here since the beginning, is a garrulous bunch who will make you a huge sandwich to order, or slice you a piece of the house special fresh spinach frittata.

I actually would rate this place a three and a half star if the system would allow it. the sandwiches are good. the portions are large and the meats tasty. however, the hoopla just doesnt warrant braving the long lines and rather high prices.

Best Ravioli I have ever had!!!: This place is the real thing. You walk in and feel like you are in Italy. The staff was great and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. The homemade beef and spinach ravioli were the best I have ever had and they carry an amazing assortment of cheeses, sausages, olive oils, wine and panetone.

Great Italian Deli: I was trying to find something wrong with Molinari's, but just can't. Food, great; ambiance, great; service, great; value, great. It's great. I used to work in North Beach and one of my favorite lunches was heading to Molinari's for a North Beach Special (sandwich roll with prosciutto, marinated sweet bell peppers, sund-dried tomatoes, provolone). Yummy! My only complaints are I no longer work in North Beach and they are closed on Sundays for a potential visit. Oh, and they do have lunch crowds (but that's my problem not theirs).
