Take the MUNI light train. From the train station you take the T line to Castro and change to the L line, the zoo is 1 block away from the end of the L line; or from the train station walk to Market and take the L (have to go to the underground stations. Do not try to take bus combinations as you will need to wait for 20 minutes in each stop. Vladimir

A Fun Zoo for the kids: We went here with our daughter and she had lots of fun here. There are many animals and the zoo was not that crowded also.

It is also quite close to the beach and hence you can always schedule a visit to the beach once the zoo visit is over.

A good zoo, but does not have any extra "sparkle": This is a fine zoo, but it is missing that special something that can make a zoo "charming." I couldnt put my finger exactly on what, though.

For parents with small children, there is also an excellent playground .
