Awful service. Phoned in an order and paid immediately but the cashier and his helper were too busy hobnobbing with all the female customers and regulars to even bother to check that my order was sitting under a heating lamp the whole time. After waiting close to half an hour from the initial call ('it'll be ready in ten minutes'), I asked the helper if my order was ready and he just gave me a quick glare like I was bothering him while he was chatting it up instead of actually taking care of current customers. After seeing that my order had been sitting there, he hurriedly handed me my order without looking at me or saying a word. By the time I got to eat my food it was already getting cold and the encounter left me not so eager to eat.
What was also bothersome is that the people that were actually making the food kept looking at me because they knew I had been standing around for a time meanwhile all other orders thereafter seemed to be flying. Usually people don't wait too long for their food. Yet they just turned away and kept acting as if everything was normal.
I've eaten many times here but now I'll look to other taquerias for burritos. The food is good but an experience like that will usually turn me off completely. On a side note they have been skimping on putting a fair amount of carne asada in their food lately but still charge the same price.
This used to be my favorite taqueria until recently. It seems like their burritos have been reduced to nearly half the size they used to be. The quality (flavor) is still there, just not the quantity. I can understand recent rising costs for everything, but I think I would rather pay a little more if necessary for the original size burrito, than leave still hungry.
My favorite taqueria in San Mateo. As others mentioned, the meats are delicious and the ingredients are fresh. Their other dishes are good too, but the burritos really standout. My favorite is the carne asada burrito.
I also like the fresh salsa bar.
As much as I like the burritos here, the store in San Francisco (Mission) is even better.
