This last holiday season my son was here from Baltimore and my nephew from Florida - both grew up in Alameda, and the first place they headed was the Taqueria for the best burritos ever! My daughter and I frequent often and she takes burritos back to college whenever she can. Not an eat-in place, really, but more a fabulous take-out. The food is great and the price reasonable. A sure thing :)
Don't Miss This!: Not a sit down, romantic dinner kind of place- but if you are in town for lunch and like good Mexican food this is the place for you. It isn't the cheapest place around but it isn't the most expensive in Alameda either & it is GOOD food. Tips: Just about anything you order is good- if you get the super nachos (YUMMY!) make sure to head to the trash can and pour out some of the extra juice from the meat or the chips will start to get mushy. And if spicy isn't your thing make sure to request NO hot sauce. The staff may seem like they don't speak English, but they will get your order right so don't worry or repeat it twenty times :) BEWARE: During school days the high school students crowd in for their lunch break, but don't worry the lines move pretty quickly and if you're not in a hurry the food is worth the wait.
I've been going here since high school: That's just a testament to how good it is! My favorite is the carnitas burrito... it's great to pick up a burrito and then head to the game. :o)
