a very questionable "institution"; does not meet the basic standards of service, quality, or hygene (I found a long black hair in my rice, disgusting!). Food was a bland, greasy mess and not authentic Mex at all. So many better places for quality Mexican food around--Otaez on Webster is far superior in terms of flavor, authenticity and overall service and ambiance, a welcome breath of fresh air after the perfunctory service and stale, outdated feel of Acapulco, and they serve proper Margaritas as well. Better Mexican food can be had just about anywhere.
This has been my favorite mexican restaurant for over 35 years and still is! The service has always been excellent and the food hasn't changed one little bit. I love that I can take home left overs and make a great mexican breakfast in the morning!
You can never go wrong going to dinner here! Thank you Acapulco for years of truly great tasting food and service!
Alameda has many great restaurants, but Acapulco is our favorite by far. That's because we have never had a bad meal there in 40 years. The portions are ample and the food is delicious. The prices are incredibly reasonable and families can really afford to enjoy a meal out together. We think their success results from emphasizing a simple menu, fresh ingredients, good service, friendly hosts, refreshing beverages and a happy atmosphere. Acapulco is not the biggest, fanciest or most expensive Mexican restaurant but you can't beat the food. My favorite: the #4 - chili relleno and chile verde burrito combination with tortillas, beans and rice. (For take-out, we split the entrees and make bean/rice burritos the next day. That's 4 meals for $12.) Popularity is the downside: at peak hours loyal patrons are willing to wait in lines and drive around the block to park. Take-out is fast. We continue to be amazed by the consistency, quality and value this unique restaurant offers. We hope the family will never sell or move away. Alameda wouldn't be the same.
