I hadn't visited Santa in a while, being daunted and even turned away by the long lines. And I must say that I was worried by the spate of recent negative reviews, fearing that this wonderful place was a victim of its own success. I'm happy to say that it's still going strong.
To those who don't like the service, I have to say get a thicker skin, or go elsewhere. Santa serves a small menu, at lunch at least, and does it quite well under generally difficult conditions - there is always a line, including some grumpy people. The wait staff were friendly enough, given what they had to put up with (I could imagine that some would have been greatly offended by having been asked, as we were, to change tables just as our soup arrived, but we just shrugged and smiled at the baby in its carriage, who would fit well only at the table that we had been occupying).
The size of the portions were certainly adequate, especially for the price. Perhaps they could have a "large" bowl, to go with what they serve, which would be the "regular". Oh, well. I found no fat and just the right amount of salt in the tasty broth of my Pork Ramen. My dining companions felt similarly about their Miso Ramen.
My one complaint would be that the noodles were nothing special - better than packaged ramen certainly, but not as good as I remembered or can find at other quality ramen restaurants.
Still, I'll go back, even if I do have to brave a long line to do so.
