Ugh! Wente. Bad, bad, bad...very, very bad.
Pass. RUDE people (I'm talking about the owners, managers and even a few staff members) and with so many other Livermore wineries that are WAY better, don't even bother with Wente...just drive on by.
Wente may be the "biggest" but in my opinion, they are the "worst" winery in the entire Livermore Valley wine country.
Poor customer service for weddings: I stopped by for a wedding appointment at Wente a few weeks back. The staff at Wente are the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Not only were they a rude group, but they were the most arrogant people I've dealt with, in the entire wedding site selection process. I've been to over 15 locations, varying in costs, and have had better customer service at even less expensive sites such as Garre. I had a terrible experience and am highly recommending you to go somewhere else and not to waste your time. Unless you want to be lied to.
An example would be, the first phone call, the first question they asked, when asking about wedding at Wente was, "You should check to see if you can afford it on the website first before you make an appointment."
The next example is, after we made an appointment and arrived there, "You have to wait an hour for us to see you." I said ok I'll wait in the wine tasting room. I waited an hour. I came back and she said. "I can't see you now, how about in another half hour." I said "ok". She immediately said, "Actually, I don't have time in half an hour, come back another time."
I'm not sure what her intent was, but it certianly wasn't to service customers.
