this place was great! has a Deli and picnic area if you would like to enjoy your wine right away. Tasting fee is well worth it! Our server John was a blast and full of information. Also very close to The sterling Winery and Castle Di Amorosa which made for a AWSOME DAY of tasting!!!
When I arrived at V Sattui, I was impressed with the layout. I liked that it has a picnic area for people to sit outdoors and enjoy their wine. Their store is also pretty impressive and has all kinds of foods to buy. But, I still prefer to go across the street to Dean/Dulca and grab food.
I would have given this place a higher rating, but I was not impressed with the service. Granted, the place was a bit busy when I went on Sunday afternoon. However, the staff seemed to race me through my wine tasting and herd me out the door. I will ask for my next wine tasting when I am ready. I understand that they need to make space for people waiting, but don't ruin the customer experience.
It's all about the wine...and V. Sattui has my FAVORITE wines in the entire Napa Valley area! I've been coming here for years and just love many of their different varieties, most of all their Gamay Rouge, Muscat and Riesling (yes, I favor the sweeter wines) although I also like to sip on their Madeira...it goes great with chocolate!
Yes, it's crowded...but it's so worth it. Love the beautiful building and site and the mature oaks with picnic tables (note to self: don't wear shorts, remember...dirty benches) provide shade on those hot summer days.
Love the cheese selection from their deli, and although I did not like any of their barbecue food AT ALL (yucky and overpriced), I still have to give them 5 stars because, well...it's all about the wine!
