We had a wonderful time!: We went for a friend's birthday and had a great time. Wonderful ambiance - comfy chairs and soft lighting made the atmosphere very upscale and cozy. It's fun to be able to see the chef's at work in the open kitchen and baking center. The service was great, and very prompt. I'm not sure if something has changed since the last review, but this is definately NOT a student restaurant. Our waiter told us that all of the people working there were on staff, and none were students. We had the "temptations" appetizers which were delightful, and the oysters on the half shell were perfectly cleaned with no sand at all. For starter some of us had the cold cucumber/watercress soup with smoked salmon which was delicious. Others had the heirloom tomato salad and loved it. For entrees, we had the hanger steak, the pork chops, and a couple of other dishes...everyone loved their entree. All-in-all, for an upscale restaurant, I thought the prices were quite reasonable. Dinner for 4, with dessert, coffee, and 2 glasses of wine was around $250. They must have added some air conditioning, because it was hot outside when we arrived (85 degrees +), and very comfortable inside. I recommend the Greystone restaurant as a fun experience and wonderful cuisine. Tip: When you arrive, use the valet parking. It's nice as it's located at the top near the entrance to the restaurant, and you don't have to climb tons of stairs. For those who have never been there, there aren't photos on the web that do this place justice. It's stunning!

Remember, it's a student restaurant: Don't expect a 3 star experience. Food is ok and service is ok. Unlike many other school restaurants, the prices are not discounted, but it does cost $$ to run a school. Perhaps a bit too much reliance upon the reputation of the CIA...again, it's a student restaurant.

Where did you get your information? The Wine Spectator is not a student restaurant. Did you even bother talking to the staff? Or for that matter did you really even eat there? Your review dosn't mention food, wine, dessert, NOTHING! If you're going to review a restaurant get your facts straight. Then you won't look like such a fool next time. Can you say, "KFC?"

Such a disappointment: This was a disappointing experience. I was so looking forward to finally eating at the CIA, but was not pleasantly surprised. First, we ordered the oysters, which were fine with a lovely ginger sauce. Then French Onion soup, which I had to send back. The top is an egg based cheese fluff, with a soggy piece of bread and what tasted like canned beef broth. Perhaps someone forgot to fully carmelize the onions..or skipped the deglazing. My friend had the Gravenstock apple salad, and the apples were far more bitter than tart. Next our main dishes... three of the 9 scallops on the table were sandy. Not just a few grains... sandy. The pork chop was a little underdone, and the strudel had caraway that overwhelmed other flavors. On to dessert, and the poached pear was lovely, but the tad of ice cream seemed closer to a butter pat than a scoop. The creme brulee' was in a round shallow dish. The custard was not particularly light, and the sugar overwhelmed any other flavors in the creme brulee'. Worse of all, the ginger snap and biscotte were so stale.. like they had been left out in humidity. All this can be yours for $300.... One of the chefs took my email and assured me the head chef would contact me.. Haven't heard from her yet. It wasn't busy.. so I'm not sure why there were so many issues with the food. It was mediocre, at best.

I haven't been to the restaurant but I tried to find out about a wine course at the school and the receptionist was curt and insulted me on two different occasions so who knows it might be an attitude problem.
