In 1988, the husband and wife team opened Terra, a world-class dining destination in Napa Valley. Today the intimate restaurant still showcases Chef Sone's seasonal menus that blend local ingredients and the flavors of southern France and northern Italy. The dishes reflect Hiro's refined Japanese sensibility, as well as the couple's travels, tastes, and passion for exceptional dining. Shortly after winning the James Beard Award for Best Chef in California in 2003, Lissa and Hiro opened Ame in San Francisco to great critical acclaim. In 2008 Terra received a James Beard Foundation award for Outstanding Service.
