| About: | Formerly known as Marine World Africa U.S.A, this is the only combination wildlife park, oceanarium, and theme park in the country. Some of its most popular attractions include a killer whale show, water rides and roller coasters, an animal nursery, a family of elephants, and roaming cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny and Batman. There is so much to do, one day is never enough. So take the ferry across the bay or drive 30 minutes north from San Francisco to Vallejo and bring the kids to take in a sea lion show after you get splashed by Shouka, the resident 4,000-pound killer whale. Check out the new thrill ride The Vertical Velocity. Check website for admission prices and discounts. |

A great place for teeny boppers to hang out and pick up on eachother. For the rest of us, we are better off saving our money and going some where else!
I loved Marine World back when it used to be Marine World. Over the years, the ticket prices have gone way up and the quiality of your expereince at the park has gone way down.
The rides seem to always have a 1 1/2 - 2 hour waiting period in the lines, and they do not have a great variety of rides. Mostly coasters, which is fine if you like riding them, but they really need to add more variety to better fit the needs of everyone in a family.
The food choices in the park is horrible and everything seems overly deep fried, greasy and very overpriced. Again, expect a long line at the food stands as well.
Some of the original elements of the park are still there, like some of the animal exhibits and the boat show, which is nice. The boat show feels just as good and exciting as they have always been, but the animal shows have gone down hill. The animals now always look depressed and I am sure the noise of the loud rides can not be that good for them.
The only really good thing I can say about Six Flags is that they are notorious for hiring a lot of teens and workers there. If anyone is in need of a job Six Flags always seems to be hiring and seems to be a decent employer to work for.
Other then that, there are just too many tweens at this park hanging out to where it feels like a tween pick up spot / meat market.
If you are looking for a more enjoyable family expereince, I would recommend taking the 45 min drive southward to Great America. They are cheaper and have a lot more rides and shows to offer.
I like Six Flags a lot! I feel like their prices could be a little lower and I do feel that their parking fee is incredibly high especially if you have a season pass. Other than that, it's an amaing park! (:
The best deals can be found on the web, so watch for internet specials. The place itself is OK, of course not as big as the ones you find in LA, but it's decent.... growing up in Oregon, you are lucky to have the carnies visit your town, so this is wonderland to our family.

Just to clarify, Great America is a solid 1.25 hours from Six Flags Vallejo, and right now the best deal for Six Flags is $30 online, whereas for Great America it is $45 (or $35 if you are going on a Sunday in June). I personally think Six Flags is a lot better for young kids, with the animals and the theme areas and a whole bunch of little kid rides. I never notice the tweens but they probably aren't riding "Harold the Helicopter."
