We keep on visiting this place whenever we passed by American canyon. But now
Whenever we crave for Japanese food we go here. Lately they have this special
$2.95 anything in sushi boat, I guess it is their some kind of Anniversary promotion
Or something for a month or so. The Fish is fresh the portions are huge. Good to celebrate birthday here, their cake is so pretty you will love taking picture of it. I will definitely
Return to this place.
I have eaten at many sushi places in during time an have to admit this is one of the best experiences I have had. First of all the sushi was exceptional and extremely fresh. We ordered a 10 piece Sashimi tuna, cherry blossom, miso, edamame, green tea and the lava cake for desert. The Tuna could not have tasted any fresher or better and was sliced in very generous proportions at least 1/2 inch thick. The cherry blossom was wonderful too. The green tea was a nicely brewed traditional flavored Japanese green tea. The edamame was also just picked fresh very generous portioned and tasted just like edamame should! The staff and manager was extremely friendly and very tentative. The restaurant and Sushi bar was also very clean and fairly new.
I have to say this was one of my top experiences for any Sushi place hands down. I have read some of the other reviews and can't even fathom the negative ones. If you are anywhere close by and have a craving for sushi "Sushi Yu" is the place. From now on whenever we visit the San Francisco area we will be eating at Sushi Yu multiple times!
So the "old" sushi-yu on redwood was a great place to eat. Now it's called yummy sushi. It's ok. Hard to compare it to the way it used to be. It's scaled down in price, size and quality. A good place to go for "to-go" sushi...not for a romantic date or down right good sushi. The new restaurant, however, in american canyon is fancy/shmancy. It has a cute sushi boat bar and the dining space is much bigger with a room for parties. The prices went up and it depends on who makes your sushi to call it fabulous. The pieces are huge! AND THE FISH IS FRESH!!! I've only had one negative expirience there where my shrimp was hard and chewy, but i blame it on the chef...not the regular guy/brother who owns the place. All in all sushi yu in american canyon is your safest bet for a good sushi in the area.
