Myself and two friends went to celebrate a birthday at Vic's. We went because we heard about a $5.00 martini. That part was true. It was a Wednesday night, slow, we were greeted by a bald guy, he was very matter of fact- you'd think he'd be gracious. We were seated in the fireplace room and had a great server, lady with glasses. The kitchen was slow and my steak overcooked. You'd think a steakhouse would know how to cook. Maybe if the chef wasn't in the bar, he'd know what was coming out of the kitchen. I was surprised to see that our check did not reflect a complaint. Overall, the experience was luke warm. No wonder it was so empty. I think the bald guy was the manager, never saw him in the dining room.
What a great find! Reserve a room in the early 1900's train car attached to the restaurant and you will have your own little original room encased in Mahogany with a sliding and closed door. You will feel like you are on an exotic train 100 years ago. The food and drink were fabulous. We have been there 3 times and rate it as our best experience for both food and environment.
I really enjoy their rib eye steak (bone in). It has always been nothing less than perfect.
Just remember that it is not cheap. We only go there for special occasions like our wedding anniversary coming up this Saturday...
what a bust, the appetizers where really good the steak was way over cooked when asked how it was I told the waiter that it was over cooked he simply replied sorry and never brought it up again, the service was so bad that I will never eat there again I believe in a certain level of service and apparently they feel that they have enough loyal customers that they don't need to provide it so I guess I can just go to Ihop and get better service.

Hello, I have gone to Vic's several times since 2003, the steaks and service has always been top notch. As it goes for Walnut Creek, Vic's runs a close 2nd to Fleming's. Ruth's Chris is not even in the conversation. My job has alowed me to eat at Morton's, Ruth's, Vic's, LongHorn, Broadway Joes, DK's, Brett Farve's (to name some) and in my book, Morton's and Flemings are 1 and 2 (it depends on your perefernce) and Vic's is right behind them. I do not agree with the first review of Vic's. Be nice and enjoy yourself and you will have an excellent time. D Rodriguez.
