Crogan's is a good neighborhood bar.. the food is o.k. They could use a tune up on their menu. It has a pretty festive atmosphere and all age groups seem to fit it.. that alone makes it a worth going to even if you don't have the best meal of your life.
What amazes me is that this is the first user review...Crogens is always crowded during meal times and, especially, Friday evenings for the happy-hour crowd.
The menu is extensive covering just about every major category of food and drink. My favorites are the lamb shank served over mash potatoes, the fish dipped lightly in beer batter and chips, the jambalya filled with shrimp, crab, and fish and just slightly spicy, and the BBQ ribs (1/2 rack because a full rack is way too much). The service is always prompt and friendly, even when the place is packed...like on St. Patrick's Day. Reservations during meal hours are advised.
The ambinance is noisy (get a booth far from the bar and the noise level is OK), but walls are bright with French posters that make for interesting reading. I guess on the good side of this is that families with kids won't need to worry about the kids being too noisy and disruptive in Crogen's.
