Stopped in for lunch after picking up herbs and Dit Da Jow at Draline Tong on Webster and 10th. We had eggplant and xtra spicy chicken with jalapeno's with hot/sour soup and white & brown rice. (brown rice was perfectly cooked) Even though they were really busy with the lunch crowd service was excellent and we did not have to wait long for our food. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and tasted great. No salty sauce or oily aftertaste.
It is not a very large restaurant so if you go and it's busy be patient.
The location is conveniently close to the Webster parking garage. It cost us about $2.00 for a couple hours and the parking garage was easy in and out.
Great Eggplant with Szechuan sauce: Nice little restaurant in Oakland's Chinatown. The homemade dumplings are very popular and other dishes are generally very good. They offer two eggplant dishes: Hot Spicy Eggplant and Red Cooked Eggplant, which comes with a plum sauce. My favorite dishes are the spicy eggplant and Hot and Sour soup. But be aware that the eggplant dish isn't always vegetarian - occassionally I've found slices of pork in mine. Overall, great value for the money with an efficient and friendly staff.
Food is fantastic: I love it here just plainly because people are nice and they make me feel like family everytime i go there. I am wild for the eggplant and the dumplings. Those are my favorite and the homemade soymilk taste just like how my mom used to make it. The only thing i don't like is the crowd and small chairs. I wish their chairs were bigger, but it is a small place so i do understand. But otherwise i definately recommend this place.
