My worst dinning experience ever. You make the call.Made reservations for 9pm. Arrived on time and was seated promptly. My date and I ordered one cocktail, tea, oysters on the half shell, salad, and two entrees. The cocktail that was sent was wrong, so I changed my drink order to a beer. The oysters on the half shell came out with no beer. I ate them with water. Then my beer finally came out. About 45 mins. later no more food came out. I went to go find the waiter to see what was going on with our entrees, and he said that the kitchen was backed up and our food will be right up. 15 mins. later the asst. manager came with our food. We refused the meal and I offered to pay for what we already had been served. 10 mins. went by and still no bill. I went to go find the waiter again, he said that the manager will be over to "make it right". He finally came said that he was sorry, that he would comp the bill and asked what he could do to make it right. I told him that I would like to have my salad and another beer, and that we would wait for our entrees. The staff quickly gave me my salad and another beer. We waited another 30 mins. and another server noticed that we were still just sitting there while several tables came and left. She went and got the manager. He said that there was a miscommunication and thought that the salad and beer was what we were missing. 2 hours later still no entree. I will never go back the that unprofessional establishment and sugguest that you stay away.

Forget the food ~~~ The music is the attraction!!!: The Oyster Reef is hidden at the end of a parking lot and behind a hotel. The food is simply OK but the folks are very down to earth locals and very diverse. There is live music with a great sound system. The "Reef" is surrounded by water and offers a wonderful view of the Bay and the port. The music is the star attraction. The downside is that the place closes around 10:30 p.m. some nights which is a bore because the music is what everyone comes to enjoy!!!

A quaint and romantic seafood restaurant: Nestled up next to the Homewood Suites hotel on Embarcadero, my first impression was that the Oyster Reef was a hole in the wall deep fried seafood restaurant with stuffed fish, old netting and other fishing gear strapped to the walls. Since I was in the mood for this, I was a little disappointed that it was cozy nicely decorated classy seafood restaurant over looking a marina. The restaurant had windows all along the dining room to view the bay, yachts and various navigational aides which made me reminisce of my Navy training of "Red Right Returning." The menu comprised of fancy named items and entres above the typical seafood combo platter. I chose the fried shrimp dinner which had a crisp and spicy breading. It came with a remarkable mixed vegatables side which I had to finish first. The garlic mashed potatoes side was ok but it tasted like they used water vice sour cream like my honey uses. (Some things you can't find better than at home.)
