Tyler loves motorcycles more than anyone I have ever encountered. He loves working on them, talking about them, riding and racing them and helping other people better understand them. He is one of very few people in this world that I can honestly say that I don't think anyone could ever say a bad thing about. That is a noble. Tyler is a great mechanic and an impeccably fair person. I'm only sorry I don't get to see him as often as when I lived in Oakland.
This guy, Tyler, is a flake. At least he was the day I met him. We had an appointment, I had the bike towed to him. He only took one look at it and decided he didn't want to work on it after all. He said my bike was a 'bad scene'. He seemed stoned or something and talked like a hippie. Maybe he thinks hes a moto psychic, but if so his powers of perception are lacking. I had to have it towed back home. That was 9 months ago or so. I have since rented a house with a garage, and decided to do all the work on it myself due to my experience with Tyler. It is now running great and looks awesome. I get compliments on it all of the time and it is one of the nicest CB750's I have ever seen. No one would refer to it as a 'bad scene' at this point. I am almost grateful for him being such an *ssh*le, because it motivated me to just do it myself and I've done a much better job than some mechanic who doesn't give a d*mn. I will always remember Tyler from Hayasa as the guy who permenantly soured me on mechanics in general.
If you are looking for a good, RELIABLE mechanic, look elsewhere.
I just went to Tyler's shop and found his service and honesty to be incomparable. He actually took the time out to teach me some basic motorcycle maintenence tips. Who else would do something like that these days without charge? After trying a number of places with inflated prices and surly service I am glad I found a place I can trust and where the price cant be beat

Honesty hurts. Sounds like he saved you a buttload of money and you learned something in the process. Bikes that are over 30 years old and not running are a bad bet at service shops and it sounds like you couldn't find ANYONE to touch yours. Now that you can work on your own bike you are richer for your experience with Tyler, no?
You know when one person says something completely incongruous with the rest of society they are labeled a visionary or an idiot and you my friend fall into the latter category.
Darn, I was looking for someone to work on my 750 as I am no mechanic.
