| About: | A hands-on science museum par excellence. Walk in past a full-scale fiberglass model of a fin whale and indulge in earthquake simulations, dice-rolling games of probability, a planetarium and hundreds of other exhibits for both kids and adults. The younger set will particularly appreciate the Wizard Lab. The view from here (day or night) is about the best you will get in the Bay Area. |

One of my favorite spots. Sometimes I come here with the kids and we don't even go in the museum. We just bring our lunch and play on the fountain and big sculptures in the outdoor square. Like other folks have said, this place has a great view. And the museum is cool too. Check out the new cafeteria on the lower level (it's got a great view as well). Good food to be had and a nice place to sit down after wandering around the museum all day. Great exhibits in general, though, I recommend catching one of their temporary exhibits.
Great views, fun exhibits: This is well worth your time. If nothing else, looking over the Bay straight to the GG bridge is spectacular. There is an exhibit on the natural history of the Bay right outside as well, so you can learn as you look!
The museum exhibits are a bit smaller than say, the Exploratoreum, but there are some fun ones.
If you have kids, its not going to work so much for the younger ones. It's probably grade-school and above mostly.
Great views, great for kids and adults: In addition to having the best view in the entire Bay Area, this museum is excellent for both kids and adults . They have petting zoo rooms, dinosaur exhibits, an outdoor garden, the list goes on and on. A bay area must see..
