I just attended a wedding at this location. It is spectacularly beautiful and I can imagine staying a weekend here would be incredibly relaxing.... EXCEPT for Kris and her so called "Site Coordinator". They are overbearing and incredibly rude.
I called the site 2 months before the wedding and talked to the owner Kris on the phone to help the bride and groom out with figuring who was staying at the location... and Miss Kris was so rude on the phone that I decided that my family would stay at another lovely Bed and Breakfast 10 miles away. I was flabbergasted at how rude she was on the phone to me... a potential customer.
The "Site Coordinator" (not sure what her name is, but she is blonde and wears her hair in a pony-tail/bun type style) yelled at the Grooms Mother and Sister and other guests for moving a table to get the wedding cake out of the sun. She also yelled at other wedding guests for going into the house for using the bathroom. Sure the house wasn't rented out for the wedding party to spend time in, but the bathrooms MUST be available when there are guests on site for 5 or more hours. To yell at a childâs parent because they are taking them to the bathroom is so inappropriate and rude. The child's mother was behind him. No need to yell. And I heard about how at 11am they were rushing the bridesmaids and the Bride out of her room while still getting ready for the wedding... No other guests were booked in those rooms. All that was to be done was to have the beds turned down.
At one point about half way through the reception the owner actually locked the doors that go out to the "dance floor" so no one could come in or out... even her employees who were busing tables! She locked her own employees out of the house! Can you believe it! Eventually she put up a sign asking people to use a side door to get to the restrooms. The sign should have been up at the beginning.
Overall the wedding was beautiful... but this is attributed to the bride and her careful planning and her bridesmaids who really had everything organized.
The food didn't have much flavor to it... relatively bland. I wish that salt and pepper had at least been offered on the tables. Oh and the tables. I would not recommend booking a wedding here if you have 9 tables of people to sit at for lunch/dinner. It was extremely crowded and half of the attendees were not able to see the bride and groom for their 1st dance... and most of the people there weren't able to dance either. The wooden folding chairs were uncomfortable to sit in and felt very unstable in the dirt in the Redwood Grove. The stairs that go from the main house to the upper parking lot are very steep.
Some advise for owner and staff. BE NICE! I know weddings are stressful, but your tone when speaking to your guests is VERY important. Especially when there is a wedding taking place. Your tone is so crucial when dealing with people. No matter what stress you have going on, do not project it on to those attempting to help you. When the person in charge of the wedding cake has a concern like the cake melting in the sun... validate their concern and fix the situation. Don't yell at them and scold them for moving a table. Ask politely and then communicate your plan to make things work. You insulted the Grooms mother, sister, and sister in law directly in front of other guests. How embarrassing and rude. I think you need to apologize.
Highly recommended: The location is great if you want to relax. The grounds are gorgeous. Rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfasts were delicious. The staff is great. We spent a mini-honeymoon here and would go back anytime. If you want to be close to shopping and restaurants, this is not the place. But if you want to relax, read or chill in the sun, and don't mind a short drive to town, this is a great spot.
